Support

You can contact our service if something is happening in your life now, or if something has happened in the past.

We will never tell you what to do or judge your actions and you don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.

We offer crisis and longer-term support, by phone, video call or in-person. This will be provided by an allocated Support Worker wherever you live in the Western Isles. You can also get in touch if you are worried about your child, someone in your family or someone you know.

Support for Women

Most people affected by sexual violence are women, and gender inequality often shapes their experiences. At WIRCC, we provide safe, confidential and trauma?informed support for women and girls, offered with care, dignity and respect.

We also provide women only spaces, operated in line with the Equality Act 2010. These spaces exist because many survivors tell us they feel safer, more relaxed and better able to speak openly in a protected environment. We maintain these spaces thoughtfully, and we will always work to make every woman who needs this support feel welcome and safe.

Individual Support for Men

Anyone can experience sexual violence. Men may have particular worries or barriers, and our staff are trained to support you with sensitivity and respect.

You choose how much you want to share — you never have to tell your story if you don’t want to. We can offer support by phone, email, or in person where appropriate.

LGBTI+ Support

We work with each survivor as an individual and respect the language you use to describe yourself, your gender, and your experiences.
If sexual violence was linked to your sexuality or transgender identity, this may also be treated as a hate crime. Our workers can support you with the impact of this and help you feel safe in our service.

Please tell us anything that would help you feel more comfortable when accessing support — we will always try to accommodate it.

When you contact us, we will listen, believe you, and support you at your pace
